As Seen at the Grocery Store

This evening as I was leaving the grocery store I passed an elderly couple sitting on a bench waiting for their ride. She was sitting slightly hunched over in a dark tan trench coat with her sage green (dotted with pale pink flowers) scarf tied over her head and under her chin. She gazed wearily over the tops of her spectacles. He sat, more alert, to the right of her, his cane perched next to him at the ready. His black overcoat, too large for his frame, hung awkwardly about him. He had a fedora perched atop his head and it seemed to dance ever so slightly as his head swivelled about, keeping an ever watchful eye over them and their purchases.
